Mackay Smith from Portnahaven and Donald MacKenzie from Port Charlotte are long term friends with a shared passion for whisky, family and community.
Hailing from Scotland’s most famous whisky isle, The Islay Boys products include;
Our Flatnose Blended Scotch Whisky is a rich, full-flavoured blend, with hints of pepper and smoke, bottled at a higher strength of 43% abv. It is unchill-filtered, like much more expensive whiskies, for more flavour and a longer lasting finish. Of course, there is Islay whisky in the blend – we wouldn’t have it any other way.
To build on the whisky traditions from home, they have crafted the sort of drink that they would drink with friends and family on Islay.
Fiercely independent, lovers of life and community, we raise a glass to the Lords of the Isles and remind ourselves to live our lives like they did – born of adventure.
These were seafaring men who ruled the vast, rugged and wild western seaboard of Scotland from around the 9th to the 13th century, from their base at Finlaggan on Islay.
The Islay Boys whisky is named in honour of Ketill 'Flatnöse' Bjornsson, a Viking King of the Isles, a seafaring warrior who ruled the vast, rugged and wild western seaboard of Scotland in the late 9th century.
His successors were the Celtic Lords of the Isles, who ruled their domain from their base on our island.
4 medals for Flatnöse - including Silver 'outstanding' for our Blended Malt.
